Doggie Decorum:
In-Person, Semi-Private Dog Training
Has the dream of “I want to take my dog EVERYWHERE!” deteriorated into frustration of “I can’t take her ANYWHERE?”
What would it be like if your dog didn’t engage in unwanted behaviors like jumping, pulling, barking, or begging? Doggie Decorum will show you how to make that a reality.
We ask our dogs to do so much more these days - well beyond being a pet that hangs out in the backyard. We want them to be calm in a cafe, by our side at the hardware store, be comfortable around all of our guests and extended family (and their dogs!) and also be perfectly willing to chill on the couch as we binge the next great series.
We’ve changed what we want from our dogs so we must also change the way we train them.
Doggie Decorum Includes:
Initial Private Orientation (to help you prepare to customize your experience)

Doggie Decorum takes you beyond basic obedience.
As a responsible dog owner these days, you must ensure your dogs have proper behavior training. It’s not just a luxury, it’s your responsibility and an essential aspect of owning a dog and creating a fulfilling relationship with your furry friend.
Basic obedience training is no longer the answer to “how do I get my dog to listen to me?”. Far too many “problem” dogs end up in shelters, abandoned or in desperate rehoming situations because owners stopped training after getting to “Sit, Down, Stay” because they simply didn’t know how to train for good behavior.
Investing time and effort into training your dog's behavior yields long-lasting benefits that extend far beyond simple obedience. You can proactively help prevent the problems that drive most dog owners crazy! In order to end the excessive barking, chewing, jumping or digging - and it’s best to do this BEFORE they become ingrained habits of your dog - you want to positively and humanely reinforce the proper behavior from the start. This creates a solid foundation that reduces frustration for both you and your dog.
AND…it’s never too late to start!! Let today be your “do-over” day!
Discover the innovative and positive training program that is fun and rewarding for both you and your dog!
Doggie Decorum addresses the behavioral problems!
Doggie Decorum teaches you the fundamentals of why your dog behaves the way he does so you can help him be the buddy of your dreams and even MORE IMPORTANTLY, you learn to be the buddy of your dog’s dreams! At Casa Luna Canines, we call this achieving Buddy Status in the heart and mind of your dog.
Our training focuses on a three-step process that begins with reframing, creates alternative options by managing, and completes the process with training.
Reframe: Rather than focusing on behaviors you don’t want (which you can’t stop anyway) you learn to reframe your perspective on what behaviors you DO want.
Manage: Remove objects, responses and even the dog, if necessary, from environments so that you can manage their behavior and prevent them from practicing the “bad stuff”
Train: Use positive reinforcement and rewards to instruct and coach your dog to be your best buddy you can take anywhere
Do you hear yourself saying “My dog is GREAT. It’s just that…”
She doesn’t stay near me! She “goes deaf” as soon as we go outside!
He constantly demands my attention. I can’t get anything done around the house.
He destroys the house when I leave her alone so I can’t even go do errands.
I feel like I’m being held hostage in my house. I can’t have any guests over because she’s so obnoxious.
I’m so sick of the barking…at everything…all the time…for no reason! I mean I like that she alerts me to stuff but…YIKES!
He hates the car and I can’t get him to go anywhere with me.
She KNOWS better. She’s just so stubborn.
She LOVES the car…but it’s scary! She just jumps to the front seat, jumps to the back, jumps to the front…and just won’t calm down
Let Doggie Decorum help you turn off that voice and have you saying…
“My dog is just great!”

Don’t let behavior struggles ruin the dream you had when you got your dog!
With the skills you learn in Doggie Decorum you will be on the road to having the buddy of your dreams!
Topics include:
How to get your dog to stay around you…wherever you are: Imagine enjoying time with your dog without the stress of having them run off after that squirrel while you loudly yell for them to return. This also lays the foundation for loose leash walking and a reliable recall.
Beds, Crates and Boundaries: When your dog LOVES their bed, crate or place that you set up for them, your entire household can change. Their bed, or place, is a safe haven where your dog can relax, not have to make decisions and not be pestered by the busy household (just like when you close the door to have your own time!) Believe in that day when the doorbell ring and your dog CHOOSES to go right to their bed to await what’s next.
Calm Greetings: Learn how to put an end to jumping and lunging at people and dogs. You will practice how to get the calm, confident greeting you want from your dog when they meet new people, see the folks they love, or encounter another dog.
Learn Commands: You’ll go beyond the basic commands as you learn HOW to teach your dog new behaviors. You’ll know when to use shaping, luring, capturing and conditioning so that you won’t be dependent on a professional training every time you need to teach your dog a new command or behavior.
Car Safety: You’ll practice safe entry and exits from cars every class to help you build a dog that rides calmly in their seat and WAITS for the cue to leave - even with the door open!
Stop Unwanted Barking: Most dogs bark (or dig or destroy or chew) because they are bored, and after a while, it becomes an engrained pattern (That’s just what we do!) Learn games and enrichment activities that you can do with your dog that are far more fun than barking at every little thing. Just 10 minutes of brain games and puzzles is equivalent to 30+ minutes of physical exercise. A dog that has “worked” will not find a need to bark at the door, fence, shadows, cars or delivery trucks - and will probably ease up on digging out your garden, too!
The Casa Luna Canines Approach to Dog Training
While obedience training can be a good start in getting to know your dog, it does not address how to stop unwanted behaviors.
If you’ve tried everything and you’re frustrated that it’s not working - and if you’re starting to feel like you’re failing as a dog owner, Casa Luna Canines can help you make the changes necessary to get things moving in the right direction - nose first and tail wagging.
For dogs, life is one big game! Use that to your advantage. Train with a games-based model.
Casa Luna Canines uses an innovative, games-based approach to dog training and behavior modification. Our background is in Service Dog Training, so we employ those same training techniques. Our goal is to help you understand the way your dog looks at, and reacts to, the world. This means YOU learn to train your dog for new tasks and tricks and will not be dependent on outside trainers for every new situation. Ultimately, dog obedience is about the relationship between dog and human, whether you want to train for companionship, show, sports or security.
Our primary training methods focus on canine cognition (developing the dog’s mind) taught through motivation, positive reinforcement and operant conditioning. We believe that anyone who chooses to have a dog as part of their life must help that dog to do its best to fit into human society and culture. We approach this with (literally) fun and games. We stay away from labels, assumptions and formulas and help you decode your dog’s behavior so they make the best decisions to be Calm. Confident. Connected.
Casa Luna Canines uses non-aversive methods such as verbal markers (Yes! Good Dog!), physical cues (hand signals, clickers, whistles), luring, targeting and problem solving. Leash corrections are rarely used. No e-collars or pinch collars are used…ever. Never. EVER. Woof.
Is this right for me and my dog?
Consider joining Doggie Decorum, a semi-private, in-person dog training class, if you have a dog 6 months or older, who has all of their vaccination shots, that has enough self control to learn around other dogs and humans. This means they are not obsessive noise makers and can be on a leash or in a kennel when they are not being worked. They don’t have to be perfect!
Group learning is beneficial because both dogs and humans can learn while observing others during class or on “down” times. Being around a large group in a new environment can be stressful for you and your dog. We keep our classes small (semi-private) because we know how important it is to create an optimal learning environment to set you up for success.
If your dog is younger than 6 months, check out our Puppy Courses, simply modified for puppy brains.
Great Flexibility! Start any week.
