    Semi-Private Dog Training Classes

Doggie Decorum, our signature behavior based training class. It is for dogs who:

    • Are 6 months or older

    • Have the self control to be around other dogs (but they don’t need to be perfect, just no display of aggressive behaviors or excessive barking)

    • Are up to date on all vaccinations

Being around large groups in a new environment can be stressful, so we keep our training groups SMALL (Max 6 dogs) to create an optimal and customized learning environment for dogs.

We require all dogs to be on leash and we keep folks distanced so there is no opportunity for a negative dog-dog interaction. Group learning is beneficial because both dogs and humans can learn from others AND we don’t feel so alone while we turn our struggles to strengths.

    Private Training

Private training is perfect for you and your dog if:

    • Either of you are not ready for group interaction

    • Your dog shows any kind of aggressive behavior towards other dogs or humans,

    • Your dog is not ready to settle down in a new environment,

    • Or simply if you’re not in the area (lessons can be taught virtually).

It’s also great if you have specific skills you want to work on and want the one-on-one time with a trainer, for families who want everyone involved in the training and relationship building AND for mulit-dog households.

The sessions can be at our facility, or, for a travel fee, we come to your house or a mutually agreed upon location that suits your training needs (park, in town, dog friendly stores, etc).

INITIAL CONSULTS ARE OFFERED VIRTUALLY OVER VIDEO CHAT.

    Semi-Private Puppy Training Classes

Did you just bring a new puppy into your house? Maybe it’s your first pup, or first pup in a while, or perhaps you added to your pack!

The first months of your dog’s life have a lasting impact on behavior.

It’s imperative to start as early as possible to shape your dog’s brain. The more they learn good behavior, and don’t have time to practice the bad behaviors, the easier it will be to fall in love with your dog and have a lasting relationship!

We offer WagTime for Puppies (will be re-released in Fall 2024) and Puppy Power Enrichment (4 to 6 months old).

Check out our puppy classes for dogs UNDER 6 months old.

We’re here. You’re there. (Or maybe you’re here, too, but can’t come to a class!) Don’t let that stop you. Our goal is to help humans learn to understand “dog” and feel equipped to teach your buddy new tricks and tips in any situation. Online courses offer you the chance to learn from the comfort of…anywhere!

    CLC Playground Adventure (Under Construction)

Our Playground Adventure Obstacle Course will be open in early 2024. We are so excited to get this started for you and your dog.

The CLC Playground Adventure course is a fun combination of agility, precision obedience, Rally, Parkour and creativity. We are not a recognized, certified, or sanctioned dog event. It is an outdoor setting and available to everyone - no matter dog breed or human knowledge!

It emphasize fun and accuracy and real life obstacles. We leave speed to the agility folks.

Not only will your and your dog have fun, there will be chances to compete with other handling teams. You'll also find that when you work WITH your dog and continue to develop their brain and physical fitness, you'll have a more confident and calm buddy who reacts a lot less to their environments. Let's make the world a playground!

Casa Luna Canines Training Techniques

Training your dog is a journey, not a destination. You cannot train during a 5 week class and expect “BOOM! My dog understands it ALL for life!”

But that’s how most dog training classes are taught. And then we think cues and commands are the thing that will help our dog behave. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Training is really about lifelong learning and the relationship with your dog. We take dog training beyond basic obedience (S.I.T. / D.O.W.N. / Roll Over Tricks) and move to “real-life” situations and environments. Our goal is to help you understand how your dog learns and teach you the skills to navigate the world with the buddy of your dreams.

In short…we want YOU to be your dog’s best friend!

Traditional “training” vs GAMES!

We understand you want to train your dog and obedience cues are a core part of that training.

We simply find that traditional training can be really misleading and time consuming. People usually think “training” means you have to carve out an hour or more in your already busy day, gear up with your leash/harness/collar/muzzle, get your treat bag ready, find the toys, don the clothing that already has slobber stains, fur and crumbled treats in the pockets…all while your dog goes crazy barking and turning in circles because she thinks something really FUN is about to happen. By the time you’re ready to depart on your “training excursion”, you and your dog are emotionally overwhelmed, annoyed…and it’s probably already raining!

That is a recipe for EXHAUSTION!!

Games Based Approach

We train you FOR a situation, not IN a situation. We break our training into short (2-3 minute) games you can play with your dog any time, any where. The games help build your dog’s brain while focusing on the human-dog relationship. This leads to having a dog that thinks you are the best thing around and CHOOSES to stay by your side rather than chase that squirrel!

The games are based on “concepts” you want your dog to learn like calmness, confidence, impulse control, focus, and optimism. This leads to a dog understanding how and when to engage or disengage from their environment.

We teach you to use environmental levels of distraction for each game so you can easily customize your work with your dog. All training starts at Level 1, which is an environment that is familiar and free of distractions. Level 2 is a familiar area, but maybe has more distractions, like your patio or garden. Levels 3 and 4 increase distraction and Level 5 is the real deal - like inside the hardware or pet food store, at a park with lots of kids and movement or maybe for you and your dog it’s a walk in the woods that you couldn’t do before! Anywhere you can’t control the environment and situation. You may be at Level 1 on a certain game/concept and ready for Level 4 on another.

The end result is that you are helping your dog develop her brain to make choices that agree with your lifestyle.
